螺旋适配器具有一个由同轴外圆柱围绕的内部螺纹转子。此组合使得样品通过螺旋适配器被不断泵送上来。测量粘度期间物料处于稳定流动状态。相较于其他粘度测量方法，稳态测量对于样品处理和小量物料变换的敏感性较低。Brookfield粘度计/流变仪以多种转速在不同剪切率下提供粘度数据。从增速/降速转速梯度中得出的流变图提供测试物料的假塑性和触变性相关重要信息。
